2025 Call for presenters

Hello, fellow American Association of Physician Liaison (AAPL) colleagues! It's that time of year again; we are now accepting presentation proposals for our 2025 AAPL Annual Conference, which will take place June 17-19, 2025, in Jacksonville, Florida.

Each year, the AAPL invites Physician Liaisons from across the country to share their best practices, insights, and work experiences. Whether you've been in your position for years, lead a team, or are new to the Physician Liaison world, we want to hear from you! Please take a moment to review the AAPL conference goals and what we are looking for in a speaker to help you prepare your proposal.

The deadline to submit your proposal is Monday, November 18, 2024.

Conference Goals


The AAPL Annual Conference offers a unique opportunity to network, share ideas, and gain valuable insights into the ever-evolving role of the Physician Liaison. It’s a celebration of the dynamic nature of our profession, bringing together like-minded yet diverse community of professionals in a positive and supportive environment.

The topics and networking opportunities at the conference are shaped by the feedback of our valued AAPL members. They are our greatest asset, and we rely on their input to create a robust, relevant, and meaningful conference experience. Whether they are a new or seasoned liaison, or leading a team, the AAPL member perspective is what makes this one of the most anticipated events in the Physician Liaison industry.

The goal of the conference is to facilitate connections and learning among attendees. Participants will have the opportunity to exchange ideas, discuss industry trends, explore best practices, and gain insights into the future of the Physician Liaison career path. They will leave equipped with the tools and knowledge to make an immediate impact on their organization.

What Are We Looking For In A Speaker?


We are seeking a diverse mix of content and perspectives to reflect the broad scope of the Physician Liaison role. The conference covers topics relevant to Physician Liaisons at all levels of expertise, and we are particularly interested in talks that explore:

•  Key trends and challenges in the industry
•  Best practices for success
•  Strategies for immediate application in an organization

By sharing your knowledge and experience, you can help shape the future of our profession and contribute to the success of this highly anticipated event.

Track 1: Liaison Best Practices This track is dedicated to sharpening the skills of the physician liaison.


Topic Ideas Might Include:

•  Outreach 101: Building strong connections with physicians
•  Practice-building tips for new physicians
•  Effective onboarding strategies
•  Ensuring liaison safety in the field

Track 2: Career Development & Leadership This track is dedicated to career-building, no matter where you are on your journey.


Topic Ideas Might Include:

•  Planning an engaging and impactful meeting or event
•  Demonstrating value: How to report effectively to leadership
•  Navigating tough conversations as a leader
•  Building your brand: Tips for successful networking

Track 3: Data, Business Development & Strategy This track is dedicated to the broader picture in healthcare, and how a physician liaison team can optimize data and other tools.


Topic Ideas Might Include:

•  Best practices for utilizing Salesforce/CRM systemsDeveloping a strategic vision for your liaison teamUsing claims data to inform your strategy

Diverse Group of Speakers


We encourage participation from all experience levels—whether you're a first-time liaison, an industry expert, or somewhere in between. Together, our collective expertise spans healthcare, management, and business development. We value the diverse career paths that have led you into the Physician Liaison profession. We especially welcome presentations that highlight best practices in four key areas:

1.  Academic Institutions
2.  Community Hospitals
3.  Children's Hospitals
4.  Independent Medical Groups

Audience Considerations


When preparing your proposal, please clearly define the target audience. For plenary talks, consider the diverse mix of attendees, which includes varying levels of expertise, skill sets, and institutional backgrounds. Your presentation should be relevant and engaging for the broadest possible range of participants.

Proposal Review Process


Proposal selection is based on the following criteria:

•  Addresses at least one of the topics of interest
•  Relevancy and timeliness of the topic
•  Includes at least one presenter from a healthcare organization (hospital/health system or a similar entity)
•  Advances the skills and knowledge of the Physician Liaison profession
•  Demonstrates a best practice and/or innovative idea
•  Case study examples highlight demonstrable organizational impact, clear results, and the "how to's"
•  Provides an applicable takeaway
•  Preferred speaker qualifications: current healthcare Physician Liaison, Manager, or Director
